Since the MA Animation course involves students from various backgrounds and disciplines, the Experimental Design module considers the importance of the pre-visualisation stage of the pipeline and provide the students the opportunities and space to experiment, test, and develop the required skills and knowledge to establish the foundations of their animation projects.
Through this module, students will be encouraged to explore different possible pathways and design strategies to problem solve and translate abstract concepts into a visual medium that defines the feasibility of the project, its timeline, as well as its art style. Outcomes of the experimentations may include animation and VFX tests, Concept sheets, Storyboards, Animatics, Methodology tests, research, and where appropriate the use of traditional media.
The module will help students develop the creative and technical requirements to become independent artists capable of strategically developing the essential requirements to launch and present the concept of a project.
This is a 20 credit module.
